Ramon Llull (ca 1232-1315/16)

Ramon Lull, known as Ramon Llull, was a Spanish philosopher, theologian, and missionary born in Palma, Majorca, Spain. He was a major figure in the development of Christian mysticism and one of the most influential writers and thinkers of the Middle Ages. Lull was a Franciscan tertiary, an active member of the Franciscan order of the Catholic Church. He studied at the University of Paris and was a friend of St. Bonaventure, one of the leading theologians of the time.

Ramon Lull is best known for his writings on mysticism, which focused on the relationship between faith and reason. He argued that it was possible to use reason to prove the existence of God and to develop a deeper spiritual understanding of God’s nature. He argued that humans could use reason to understand God and to experience a direct, personal connection with God.
